I got the new Goldfrapp today on its first day on sale - SEVENTH TREE - today in Colchester. YAY!
Certainly something that will grow on me - after the first listening. And now listening again.
I love the line: "some people feel in their touch" as printed in the booklet.
Poignant and meaningful that Alison Goldfrapp sang instead: "some people feel they're in touch."
Also love the line: "Have you no name" (without the ?)
LATER: And it's getting better and better with each listening.
I think it is constructively low-key as a collection - one that needs to be
worked at by living with many listenings to harvest its full flavours. It
has the quality of 'classical music' (for me a good thing) and has captured
the soul of Schubert, Debussy, Beatles and Vivaldi.
Regarding a new type of LIFE ON MARS series in 2040 (?), I feel there is a
good chance that Goldfrapp will indeed be retrospectively seen as the
iconic music of the early 21st century in the field of popular
entertainment. So they will play 'Clowns', for example, as backgroud music
to this 2040 series as the 'new old' David Bowie! And Alison as the new
Test Card Girl!
